چکیده
We present a method for applying implicit forces on a Lagrangian mesh to an Eulerian discretization of the Navier Stokes equations in a way that produces a sparse symmetric positive definite system. The resulting method has implicit and fully coupled viscosity, pressure, and Lagrangian forces. We apply our new framework for forces on a Lagrangian mesh to the case of surface tension force, which when treated explicitly leads to a tight ∆t = O(∆x) time step restriction. By applying surface tension as an implicit Lagrangian force, the resulting method benefits from improved stability and the ability to take larger time steps. The resulting discretization is also able to maintain parasitic currents at low levels.

متن کاملDynamic Fracture Analysis Using an Uncoupled Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian Finite Element Formulation
This paper deals with the implementation of an efficient Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation for the three dimensional finite element modeling of mode I self-similar dynamic fracture process. Contrary to the remeshing technique, the presented algorithm can continuously advance the crack with the one mesh topology. The uncoupled approach is employed to treat the equations. So, each t...
متن کاملNumerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method
Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...

A hybrid Lagrangian-Eulerian (hLE) scheme, combining a particle-based, mesh-free technique with a finitevolume flow solver, is developed for direct simulations of two-phase flows. The approach uses marker points around the interface and advects the signed distance to the interface in a Lagrangian frame. The kernel–based derivative calculations typical of particle methods are used to extract the...

A hybrid Lagrangian-Eulerian (hLE) scheme, combining a particle-based, mesh-free technique with a finitevolume flow solver, is developed for direct simulations of two-phase flows. This approach merges the naturally adaptive nature of particle-based schemes, for efficient representation of the interface between two media, with the relative flexibility offered by grid-based solvers for complex fl...
